Welcome to the Superman Super Site

Superman is the brainchild of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who first envisioned the character in 1932 and later had his first appearance in Action Comics #1 in June 1938. What Jerry and Joe did not know at the time was that they had created a character that would become the signature icon of DC Comics and the most universally recognized hero in human history.

Since 1938, the character of Superman/Clark Kent has appeared in every imaginable media form including television, film, novelizations, and even a Broadway show.

Being Superman is the childhood fantasy of every little boy and girl (they of course want to be Supergirl). He is an enduring emblem of the American dream, the young immigrant who comes to the United States, embraces the culture and makes something of himself and enriches his adopted nation. He is a classical hero in the modern age who fights criminals, rescues the helpless and has a sense of morals and justice as strong and unshakeable as he is.

Since 1998, the Superman Super Site's mission statement has been to bring you all the latest news, updates, and information pertaining to the Man of Steel and the Superman universe in general.

It is a mission we are proud to maintain for all the fellow Superman fans of the world and everyone who visits our site because, without you, we would not exist.

Visitors to Cleveland, OH will soon have the opportunity to visit a new plaza paying tribute to Superman after the project received approval from the Cleveland Planning Commission.

The plaza will be located downtown at the Huntington Convention Center and will feature an 18-foot tall stainless steel statue of Superman, a phone booth complete with clothing from Clark Kent, and a bronze statue featuring Cleveland natives and co-creators of the Man of Steel, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster along with Siegel's wife, Joanne pointing and looking up at Superman.

"Philadelphia has Rocky Balboa, Milwaukee has the 'Bronze Fonz.' In Cleveland, we want to bring the 'Man of Steel,'" stated architect and project manager, Nick Slaughterbeck of the Moody Nolan design firm. "Superman is arguably one of the greatest cultural contributions to American pop culture in all of American history. Cleveland should be very proud of that."

The plaza and statues were originally planned to be placed alongside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum. However, in 2018, the developer of the property ultimately decided against allowing the project to be placed at that location.

The approved new location will require a few modifications as requested by the Cleveland Planning Commission including revisions to concrete and grassy areas, a different location for a commemorative plaque, the addition of back-to-back benches, and the creation of an ideal spot for photo and social media opportunities.

The Siegel & Shuster Society non-profit volunteer organization which is dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the creation of Superman in Cleveland will be funding costs associated with the construction of the plaza sculptures and infrastructure while maintenance of the plaza will be handled by the Cuyahoga County Convention Facilities Development Corporation.

A prospective completetion date for the Superman Tribute Plaza has yet to be announced at this time.

The photo features Gunn on set alongside actors David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Superman) and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) all reading respective copies of "Action Comics #114", "Superman No. 1", and "All-Star Superman".

"On this day in 1938 the first superhero entered our atmosphere via the imaginations of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster," states Gunn in the photo's caption. Up, Up, and Away."

"Superman" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent.

DC's 2024 Superman Superstars initiative within their Superman line of comics will continue from July to September with the all-star pairing of Gail Simone and Eddy Barrows announced as the next creative team on Action Comics, telling a new Superman story taking place at the beginning of the Man of Steel's action-packed career. Simone and Barrows's story, "Superman and the Challenge from the Stars," follows arcs from Jason Aaron and John Timms ("I, Bizarro") and Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval ("House of Brainiac").

"I love the classic Superman cast, and this story is deliberately meant to echo my all-time favorite Superman time period," said Simone. "We didn't want to tell a quiet story of Superman in a diner; we wanted to have a massive threat, a war taking place all over the world, and only Superman could possibly protect his adopted planet. It is unapologetically huge in scope and fun as hell, with one of the best art teams I've ever worked with…Eddy Barrows, Danny Miki, and Rex Lokus on colors!"

The first of Simone and Barrows's three issues kicks off when a massively powerful alien race makes Earth their arena. Superman, DC's Man of Steel, must stand alone against impossible challenges that threaten locations all around the world and the lives of those he loves. Action Comics #1067 begins a not-to-be missed epic tale of Superman's strength, wit, and resourcefulness in an early stage of his public career!

"For me talking about Action Comics is something that goes beyond the title itself," shared Barrows. "I remember when I was 7 years old, I was playing on the sidewalk, and suddenly I was run over by a truck, right there. I spent 3 days fighting for my life, and during that whole year that followed I remained in bed, doing lots of physiotherapy, lots of meds and exams. Going to the doctors was a very regular thing. And it was during that time that Superman came to my life, reading Action Comics. Kal-El became a good friend of mine, making my days better. His adventures and his behavior were things that stuck with me! Reading his stories were the highlight of my days, for a 7-year-old recovering from an accident like I was. Back then I wouldn't have imagined that one day I would be helping to build his legacy: illustrating his stories. The stories of my all-time favorite superhero... SUPERMAN!"

Action Comics #1067, #1068, and #1069 (July, August, and September) will be written by Gail Simone with art by Eddy Barrows, Danny Miki, Rex Lokus and Dave Sharpe.

Action Comics #1067 will have a main cover by Eddy Barrows, Danny Miki, and Tomeu Morey, and will also carry variant covers by Wes Craig, Pablo Villalobos, and Ben Oliver (1:25), on sale Wednesday, July 10. The main Eddy Barrows cover will also be released as a foil variant cover.

In a recent post on her official Instagram account, actress Elizabeth Tulloch revealed the title of the final epsiode of the upcoming final season of "Superman & Lois".

In the post, Tulloch shared a photo of cover of the script page for the series finale episode which is titled "It Went By So Fast" and written by Todd Helbing & Brent Fletcher with Gregory Smith serving as director.

Especially to our crew - this final season has been tough physically and emotionally on everyone and I see you and how hard you are working, and I am so appreciative of you all."

The CW has not yet announced a premiere date for "Superman & Lois" Season 4 which will feature 10 episodes and conclude at the end of the season. The final season will also see the addition of two new characters joining the cast in the form of Douglas Smith as Daily Planet photojournalist Jimmy Olsen and Yvonne Chapman as Amanda McCoy; a trusted ally of Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) that assists him in his continued quest for vengeance against Superman and Lois Lane.
