January 11, 2017: Peter Gadiot Cast as Mr. Mxyzptlk on "Supergirl"

Actor Peter Gadiot has landed the role of the iconic 5th dimensional character Mr. Mxyzptlk on "Supergirl".
Gadiot previously starred in the role of Cyrus on the short-lived ABC television series "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland". Other acting credits include the 2013 film "The Forbidden Girl," MTV's "Hot Mess" and the British series "My Spy Family".
Gadiot will be the latest actor to play the role of Mr. Mxyzptlk which has previously been portrayed by Howie Mandel on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," Trent Ford on "Smallville," and Gilbert Gottfried on "Superman: The Animated Series".
Mr. Mxyzptlk first appeared in Superman #30 (September, 1944) and was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. He is usually presented as a trickster, in the classical mythological sense, in that he enjoys tormenting Superman.
In most of his appearances in DC Comics, he can be stopped only by tricking him into saying or spelling his own name backwards (Kltpzyxm - "kel-tip-zix-um"), which will return him to his home in the 5th dimension and keep him there for a minimum of ninety days.
