January 27, 2016: Tom Welling Talks Starring in Superman Role on "Supergirl"

In a recent interview with BuzzFeed, former "Smallville" star Tom Welling talked about his years playing Clark Kent on the series and the possibility of starring in the role of Superman on the popular CBS series "Supergirl".
"There's people who would like it... there's people who don’t like it but I will tell you that no one has ever actually asked me to do it. So, I don't know. It would be kind of odd. I don't know who he is at that point. He would obviously be Superman."
Thus far, the iconic superhero has only been seen as a baby right before Krypton's destruction and as a silhouette when Kara's ship arrived on Earth. His alter ego of Clark Kent has been featured only in the form of instant messages to his superheroine cousin.
Welling also touched on other television programs based on characters from the DC Comics universe of which he is a fan:
"I'm very proud of shows like Arrow (and) The Flash... They're able to ground these characters so that the viewer can relate on a human level to people who used to be only in two dimensions."
