February 28, 2012: Michael Shannon Recites General Zod Dialogue

At the recent Independent Spirit Awards, actor Michael Shannon talked to IFC.com about his character of General Zod in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, 'Man of Steel' is "actually not a very scary guy."

In a seperate interview with MTV at the same awards show, Shannon revealed a little more about his role as Zod as well as a possible line that his character speaks in the film. Here's an excerpt from the MTV article:

"I saw the dance sequence, but that's it, just because I have to match the moves," Shannon joked — we hope. We could even see a silent, black-and-white, song-and-dance film à la "The Artist," the actor quipped: "We're actually taking a lot of stuff from 'The Artist' and incorporating it into 'The Man of Steel.' "

Getting a little more serious in his answers, Shannon admitted there will be some brains behind Zod's brawn. He shared that he got to perform some epic dialogue while filming the movie. "Zod has some speeches; he has some cool speeches," he said. "I got to say some cool stuff, but I can't say any of it right now."

After a long pause, Shannon shared what just might be an actual line from "Man of Steel": "Do you realize the universe is constantly shrinking, Superman?"

Alongside Shannon, "Man of Steel" also stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Kevin Costner as Jonathon 'Pa' Kent, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Richard Schiff as Dr. Emil Hamilton, Cooper Timberline as Clark Kent (Age 9), Dylan Sprayberry as Clark Kent (Age 13), Jadin Gould as Lana Lang (age 13) and Robert Gerdisch as Whitney Fordham (age 14).

Superman is scheduled to make his return to the silver screen on Friday, June 14, 2013.
