March 7, 2016: J.K. Simmons Cast as Commissioner Gordon in "Justice League: Part One"

Posted by Neil Cole

Actor J.K. Simmons has officially joined the cast of "Justice League: Part One" in the role of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon.

The Oscar winner will take over the role which was previously portrayed by Gary Oldman in director Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy. The iconic character is also currently featured in the Fox television series series "Gotham" where he is played by actor Ben McKenzie.

This of course will not be Simmons' first venture into the world of comic book films. He previously portrayed the role of Daily Bugle Editor J. Jonah Jameson in director Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy starring actor Tobey McGuire.

"Justice League: Part One" will feature Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Amy Adams reprising their respective roles of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Lois Lane alongside Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Amber Heard as Mera.

Warner Bros. will release the film on November 17th, 2017 followed by "Justice League: Part Two" on June 14th, 2019.
