"Krypton" Soars to Highest SYFY Ratings in Four Years

by Neil Cole

SYFY has announced that the series premiere of "Krypton" had an audience of over 2.5 million people which resulted in the network's biggest ratings premiere since the 2014 debut of "Ascension".

In a statement from the network, the March 21st debut of the new series was the top-rated scripted entertainment program for the night and also the biggest premiere for a genre series on cable since the FX pilot episode for "Legion" in February.

Even though the network chose the later time-slot of 10PM for "Krypton" due to the competitive nature of Wednesday night programming, the series also managed to beat out the ratings for all other cable shows including The CW's hit series "Riverdale".

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel's home planet, "Krypton" follows Superman's grandfather (Cameron Cuffe) - whose House of El was ostracized and shamed - as he fights to redeem his family's honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) serves as executive producer and showrunner.
