"Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes" Lithograph by Alex Ross Revealed
by Neil ColeSYFY WIRE has revealed an all-new limited-edition superhero lithograph print from legendary artist Alex Ross titled "Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes."
The 19 1/2" x 26 1/2" fine art print is priced at $195 and was created by Ross exclusively for the Phoenix Comic Fest which takes place May 24th - 27th at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ. Each print is hand-signed by Ross and includes an official Certificate of Authenticity.
The print pays homage to the original 1976 cover from "Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes - Limited Collectors' Edition C-49" and features several superheroes from the iconic team including Superboy, Supergirl, Chameleon Boy, Colossal Boy, Star Boy, Brainiac 5, Sun Boy, Shrinking Violet, Bouncing Boy, Ultra Boy, Mon-El, Matter-Eater Lad, Element Lad, Light Lass, Dream Girl, Ferro Lad, Karate Kid, Princess Projectra, Shadow Lass, Chemical King, Timber Wolf, Wildfire, Tyroc, Dawnstar, Night Girl, Duo Damsel, and Invisible Kid.
"This piece of art is a re-creation of a cover by Mike Grell, the artist who was working on the Legion of Super-Heroes when I was a kid," Ross told SYFY WIRE. "This big bold graphic that was done for an oversized tabloid comic is something I’ve always loved and wanted to revisit. The Legion stands as one of my favorite superhero groups and definitely has some of my favorite costumes of all time, most of which were redesigns of the original Legion. These redesigns were done by Dave Cockrum, who also designed the modern X-Men."
The "Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes" lithograph will debut at the Phoenix Comic Fest on Thursday, May 24th. A total of 10 pieces of the print will also be available online and customers are highly encouraged to join the wait list at Alex Ross Art as the edition size is limited to just 100 pieces total.
