WHV Reissuing "New Adventures for Superman" and "Superman: The Complete Animated Series" on DVD

In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Man of Steel, Warner Home Video have announced the reissue of both "New Adventures for Superman" and "Superman: The Complete Animated Series" on DVD.

"The New Adventures of Superman"

THRILLS COME FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET! Originally produced by Filmation Associates, this animated Superman was among the first Saturday morning cartoon shows showcasing the adventures of a Super Hero. In each suspenseful, action-packed caper, Superman defeats out-of-this-world dangers like mermen living beneath the Earth’s core, energy-controlling aliens and time-traveling magicians. Favorite villains the Toyman, Brainiac and archnemesis Lex Luthor also challenge the Man of Steel, but he doles out justice with the simple mantra “This is a job for Superman.” The 36 episodes of retro fun will make younger and older spirits soar.

Also included is the Special Feature "Superman in 66" - The year was 1966, a booming time for the comics industry, a hallmark year for Superman and an amazing year for our country. It was also the year The New Adventures of Superman debuted on CBS. This piece will explore how the 60's era influenced the character of Superman and led to his Filmation debut on this groundbreaking show.

"Superman: The Complete Animated Series"

The creative team behind the Emmy Award-winning Batman: The Animated Series chronicles the adventures of Superman, the legendary Super Hero. As the planet Krypton is destroyed, its leader, Jor-El, secures his infant son, Kal-El, in a rocket that will transport him to Earth. There, a young Clark Kent (voiced by Tim Daly) discovers the truth about his interplanetary heritage. Upon reaching adulthood, he assumes the identity of Superman, the Man of Steel, in the city of Metropolis, battling the forces of villainy and continuing his quest for "Truth, Justice and the American way." Fly with Superman in this complete collection of adventures. All 54 episodes, over 1000 minutes, have been repackaged and are available at a more economical price.

Both DVD sets are scheduled to release on October 2nd, 2018.
