Nuclear Man Making Comic Book Debut this August

by Neil Cole

Nuclear Man, the Man of Steel's primary antagonist from "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace", will make his DC Comics debut this August.

The news comes directly from writer Brian Michael Bendis who posted a sketch on the official DC Comics Instagram account of the infamous villain by artist Ivan Reis that is very faithful to the character's appearance in the film.

Actor Mark Pillow starred as Nuclear Man in the less than stellar film alongside Christopher Reeve and was created by Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) using Superman's DNA. Pillow was actually the second version of the character to appear in the film as an earlier version portrayed by actor Clive Mantle was ultimately cut from the theatrical release.

Following his current run on the Man of Steel miniseries, Bendis will begin working on a new Superman storyline which will see the debut of Nuclear Man in Superman #2 on August 8th. How faithful the character will be to the big screen version remains to be seen.
