"Superman: The Movie" Title Designer Richard Greenberg Dies

Oscar-nominated title designer and motion-graphics pioneer, Richard Alan Greenberg has passed away at the age of 71.

In 1977, Greenberg launched R/Greenberg Associates with his brother Robert and created the iconic opening title sequence for the 1978 blockbuster film, "Superman: The Movie".

He also worked on titles and/or visual effects for such other films as "Alien," "Ghostbusters," "The Untouchables," "Die Hard," "Bram Stoker's Dracula," "Independence Day," "Seven," "The Matrix" and "Predator".

Many of his works are currently housed in the permanent collections of such world-renowned museums as The Art Institute of Chicago, MOMA and The Louvre.

In addition to his brother, Greenberg is survived by his three children; Jessica, Morgan, and Luke.
