Nearly two decades after the Tim Burton helmed "Superman Lives!" film failed to see the light of day, actor Nicolas Cage finally gets to portray the role of Superman in the animated comedy "Teen Titans GO! to the Movies".
"It wasn't really the version that Tim Burton and I had in mind, but it was just fun," says Cage about voicing the role of Superman in the animated film. "It was just nice to be involved in something my kid loves and we got to do it together."
Cage is an adamant fan of the Man of Steel and once owned a vinatge copy of "Action Comics #1" which later sold at auction for a then record $2.1 million. He also named his 12-year-old son Kal-El which is, of course, Superman's Kryptonian birth name.
In addition to "Teen Titans GO! to the Movies", Cage has had various voice acting roles over the years - including 2009's "G-Force" and 2013's "The Croods"- and calls it "one of the more fun aspects of the business I'm in. You get to really riff and go for it and go off-page and just free associate. You get into the jazz of the character."
Cage's next animated project will be "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" where he will voice the role of Spider-Man Noir, a 1930's gangster-era version of Peter Parker from another dimension.
