Warner Bros. recent surprise announcement that Ben Affleck will star as Batman in the 2015 follow-up to "Man of Steel" has resulted in a new on-line petition to cast Adam West in the film as well.
West of course is known for his starring role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the classic "Batman" television series which aired on the ABC network for three seasons from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968
The petition was launched by the Me-TV television network which airs mainly classic television sitcoms and drama series from the 1950's through the 1980's.
The network has no issues with Affleck's casting but states that they "believe that it's always best to stick with a classic - and Adam West is pure memorable entertainment."
Fans are invited to join Me-TV in their quest for West to be cast in the highly anticipated film by signing the petition and leaving a comment at https://metvnetwork.com/batmanpetition.php.
At the time of this writing, the petition had already received 4132 signatures. Me-TV hopes to present the petition and comments to West in person.
Warner Bros. has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.
