Former Supergirl actress, Laura Vandervoort has announced that she will serve as executive producer on a new Canadian tv series for young girls entitled "Super Duper Deelia".
The half-hour, live-action series will follow the adventures of Deelia; a young girl who, on her 10th birthday, discovers that she has superpowers. With help from friends, a wise grandmother and a talking dog, she learns how best to use her newly acquired powers.
"I was a tomboy growing up and didn't like princesses, ponies or pink," stated Vandervoort. "With my Supergirl background and fan base, I thought it would be great to develop a series that speaks to girls like me."
Vandervoort starred as the iconic superhero character Supergirl/Kara for multiple seasons on the hit CW television series, "Smallville". She currently stars in "Bitten", a female werewolf drama which airs on Canada's Space channel as well as the SyFy Network in the U.S.
The new series will be produced by Canadian independent production house, Shaftesbury Films in association with John May and Suzanne Bolch of Heroic Television.
