Former head of production for Cannon Films from 1982 - 1988, Michael J. Kagan passed away on November 10th of natural causes in London, England; he was 87.
In 1987, Kagan served as the executive producer on "Superman - IV: The Quest for Peace" which, due to an extremely poor performance at the box office, would ultimately serve as Christopher Reeve's last performance as the Man of Steel.
Prior to Superman, Kagan was the associate producer on two films helmed by director Michael Winner; the 1983 remake of "The Wicked Lady" starring Faye Dunaway and the 1985 action flick, "Death Wish 3" starring Charles Bronson.
Following his career with Cannon, Kagan would serve as a co-producer on Warner Bros. 1991 hit, "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves". Kagan's last work in the film industry would be in 1994 as a co-producer for Disney's live action version of "The Jungle Book".
Kagan is survived by his wife, Kate.
