The Superman Super Site is proud to introduce a new weekly series entitled "The Forgotten Supermen" where, each Monday, we will feature an actor that has portrayed the Man of Steel in a particular form of media such as television, film, or radio.
This week's forgotten Superman is actor David Wilson who starred as the Man of Steel in the ABC televised version of the Broadway musical, "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman!" which aired on February 1, 1975.
A native New Yorker, born to James "Bud" Wilson and Norleene Mary MacDonald, David was raised on Long Island. A scholar/athlete, his stage debut came opposite Patti LuPone ("Evita", "Sunset Boulevard") as "Emile de Becque" in their senior production of "South Pacific" in 1967.
David went on to attend Columbia University in Manhattan. Bitten by the "acting bug", he left college in the spring of 1969 to attend The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater, where he studied with the legendary and immortal, Sanford Meisner.
After graduating, David started his career on the stages of New York and Chicago while moving on to TV and Film. He later extended his stage, film and TV career to include work in all three disciplines in Stockholm, Sweden. Thrice married and divorced, he is the proud father of five. Still in love with acting, he is writing and producing for stage, screen and television.
