Actor Joshua Orpin has officially been cast in the role of Conner Kent/Superboy in the upcoming second season of the DC Universe streaming series "Titans".
The official description describes the iconic superhero character as "the angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans, where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for."
Superboy debuted on "Titans" in a post-credits scene following the season one finale episode titled "Dick Grayson" in which he escapes from Project Cadmus along with a version of Krypto the Superdog who is shown with glowing red eyes. However, the character's face is not seen by the audience as Orpin had not yet been cast in the role.
Conner Kent was created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett and first appeared in issue #500 of "The Adventures of Superman" in 1993. Since the character's debut, his origin story has differed over the years ranging from being a clone of Superman initially, to a Kryptonian/human hybrid created from the DNA of both Superman and Lex Luthor and, most recently, the future son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane; Jon Lane Kent.
He has also been featured in the "Young Justice" animated series as a primary protagonist and was a a recurring character throughout the final season of the popular CW television series "Smallville".
Orpin will star alongside other "Titans" cast members including Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Robin, Anna Diop as Kory Anders/Starfire, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth/Raven, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan/Beast Boy, and Curran Walters as Jason Todd.
The series was renewed for a second season ahead of the series' premiere at New York Comic Con.
