Warner Bros. has brought in actress Ana Nogueira to pen the screenplay for the upcoming "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" feature film.

Director James Gunn confirmed the news in an Instagram post stating, "A hearty public welcome to Ana Nogueira to the DC Studios family. "Ana is an amazing writer whose screenplay adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow is above and beyond anything I hoped it would be. We're excited to be moving forward on this unique take on Supergirl in this beautiful, star-spanning tale."

Nogueira is best known for her starring roles in such television series as "The Michael J. Fox Show", "The Vampire Diaries", and "The Blacklist". She currently stars in the television series "Hightown" which airs on the Starz network.

"Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" will be based on the comic book limited series of the same name in which Supergirl/Kara Zor-El finds her life without meaning or purpose, where people only see her through the lens of Superman's fame. Just when she thinks she's had enough, everything changes when an alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission.

The film will be part of the Gunn and Peter Safran helmed DC Universe film franchise that kicks off with the release of "Superman: Legacy" on July 11, 2025.
