In a recent interview with SyFy Wire, actor Brendan Fraser talked about his latest role voicing the character of Cliff Steele / Robotman on the DC Universe streaming service series "Doom Patrol".
During the course of the interview, Fraser talked about auditioning for the role of Superman/Clark Kent in what would eventually become "Superman Returns" starring actor Brandon Routh in the role as the Man of Steel.
Here's an excerpt from what he had to say:
SyFy: How come you never did a superhero film? Is it true you were almost cast as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four?Fraser: No. I auditioned for Superman. I even wore the suit.
SyFy: Oh, man. What was that like?
Fraser: It was cool, it was pretty cool. I mean, I didn't get the job. It went away. Brett Ratner was a bit "woo hoo" in those days, and that's well documented. And that was a script J.J. Abrams wrote but it never got made. And it was freaking Shakespeare in space. It was so cool. It was worlds colliding and, it was really, really cool. But you know, I hear he's done well since then. (Laughs)
"Doom Patrol" premiered on February 15th on DC Universe and, in addition to Fraser, stars April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor / Negative Man, Diane Guerrero as "Crazy" Jane, Alan Tudyk as Eric Morden / Mr. Nobody, Joivan Wade as Victor "Vic" Stone / Cyborg, and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder / Chief.
