Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the virtual on-line convention, DC FanDome will not be taking place this year.
"With the return of in person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at numerous comic-cons around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022," WBD's statement reads.
The DC Comics-centric fan event was first conceived in April, 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of E3 2020 and the eventual cancellation of San Diego Comic-Con 2020. Two separate conferences were held in August, 2020 and October, 2021 featuring announcements and sneak peeks at upcoming films, television series, video games, comic book titles, and properties from Warner Bros.
The decision to cancel the DC FanDome event this year is not too surprising as it has been previously revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery has sought to cut presentation costs at such conventions as San Diego Comic-Con and the upcoming New York Comic-Con by limiting the properties it brings to such events.
