Fundraiser Campaign Launches for Superman Plaza in Cleveland, OH

The Siegel & Shuster Society non-profit volunteer organization has officially launched a $2.3 million fundraising campaign for a Superman statue and plaza to be located at the Huntington Convention Center in downtown Cleveland, OH.

Funds raised through the campaign will go towards the construction of the plaza which will feature an 18-foot tall stainless steel statue of Superman, a phone booth complete with clothing from Clark Kent, and a bronze statue featuring Cleveland natives and co-creators of the Man of Steel, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster along with Siegel's wife, Joanne pointing and looking up at Superman.

"Philadelphia has Rocky Balboa, Milwaukee has the 'Bronze Fonz.' In Cleveland, we want to bring the 'Man of Steel,'" stated architect and project manager, Nick Slaughterbeck of the Moody Nolan design firm. "Superman is arguably one of the greatest cultural contributions to American pop culture in all of American history. Cleveland should be very proud of that."

The plaza - which will see no taxpayer money being used for the project - has been approved by DC Comics and both the Siegel & Shuster families and will not only celebrate the origins of Superman, but also enrich Cleveland's cultural landscape.

The statue and plaza are currently scheduled to be completed on April 1st, 2025. Please visit SupermanStatueCleveland.org to submit a donation to the fundraising campaign.
