Guinness World Records has awarded a trio of LEGO builders with the award for the world's largest LEGO brick Superman "S" shield.

The iconic symbol worn by the Man of Steel was constructed by Wisconsin residents Bryce Martin, Matt Neyens, and Greg Yarincik and measures in at a width of 6 feet, 3 inches) which is 66% larger than the previous record set earlier this year by Japan's Katsuya Yamauchi.

"The design, planning and preparation process is always the most challenging for us," stated Martin. "I think few people realize the amount of time that goes into a record attempt such as this. To design a record-setting concept, while being sure that we possess enough bricks to facilitate the build, is always difficult."

The Superman "S" Shield required 20 LEGO baseplates to form the foundation of the build and a total of 30,426 1x1 yellow and red LEGO bricks to construct the symbol itself.

The Guinness World Record is the second one that Martin and Neyens have been awarded for a DC Comics logo having previously built the world's largest LEGO brick Batman symbol with their friend Kenzie Warmus which measured an astounding 15 feet, 8 inches wide.
