Director Stacey Souther has started a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for actress Valerie Perrine which will help cover medical expenses associated with her battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Perrine starred in the memorable role of Miss Teschmacher in both "Superman: The Movie" & "Superman: II" and was also featured in such films as "Slaughterhouse-Five", "Lenny", "The Electric Horseman", and "What Women Want".
The GoFundMe page offers the following description of the campaign:
Valerie Perrine was a legendary actress of the 1970's. You may remember her from films such as Slaughterhouse Five, Lenny or Superman. She has an amazing spirit and was an inspiration of that decade.Valerie has been battling Essential Tremors and Parkinson's Disease for several years. Ultimately forcing her to retired from acting. She had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery 5 years ago. Which provided some relief with her shaking. In recent years she has lost the ability to walk and is now bedridden. She requires the assistance of caregivers on a daily basis. Added to that cost are mounting dental bills, caregiving necessities, medications and other bills. Valerie cannot cover all these expenses and debt. She desperately needs financial assistance now.
I am Valerie's friend Stacey Souther. She is a very proud woman and would never ask for help no matter how tough the situation. So, I am reaching out to the world and her many fans for help. She has brought much joy to the world through her many performances. Now is the time to help bring some joy to her twilight years.
