As pre-production on "Superman: Legacy" continues to ramp up, director James Gunn is currently conducting screen tests to cast the roles of Superman and Lois Lane in the highly anticipated film.
In a recent post on Bluesky social, Gunn stated, "Amazing, amazing weekend of auditions for 'Superman: Legacy'. I'm blown away by some of these actors, among the best I've ever seen or worked with."
According to various reports, actors Nicholas Hoult ("Renfield", "Warm Bodies"), David Corenswet ("The Politician", "Pearl"), and Tom Brittney ("Outlander", "Grantchester") are currently in the running for the role of Superman while actresses Rachel Brosnahan ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", "The Courier"), Emma Mackey ("Barbie", "Death on the Nile"), and Phoebe Dyvenor ("Fair Play", "Bridgerton") are in contention for the part of Lois Lane.
"Superman: Legacy" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
"Superman: Legacy" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
