James Gunn Reflects on David Corenswet & Rachel Brosnahan Screen Test for 'Superman'

In a new post on his official Threads account, director James Gunn reflects back on the initial screen test between actors David Corenswet (Superman/Clark Kent) and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) - which took place exactly one year ago today - and what it has been like working with the two on the highly-anticipated "Superman" film.
"One year ago today David and Rachel screen-tested for Clark and Lois. When they first read together it was like magic," stated Gunn in the social media post. "What a wonderful year it's been with two of the most extraordinary, vibrant, and meticulous actors I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. I can't wait for you to see them on screen in just a little over a year."
"Superman" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
In addition to Corenswet and Brosnahan, the film stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
"Superman" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
