María Gabriela De Faría Joins "Superman: Legacy" Cast as Villain The Engineer

Actress María Gabriela De Faría has been cast in the role of DC Comics villain The Engineer (aka Angela Spica) in director James Gunn's upcoming feature film, "Superman: Legacy".

The Engineer was created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch and first appeared in 1999 in "The Authority #1". She is a founding member of The Authority who has a liquid body due to nanites in her bloodstream which gives her vast mechanical abilities and to create many things such as radio-telepathy bugs, weaponry, rocket engines, replacement lungs to cope with unfamiliar atmospheres and even additional copies of herself.

De Faría has appeared in various Nickelodeon television series across South America including "Isa TKM", "Grachi", and "Yo soy Franky". In 2019, she starred in "Deadly Class" as Maria Salazar, and in "A Very Moody Christmas" as Cora.

De Faría is the latest actor to be cast in "Superman: Legacy" following David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

"Superman: Legacy" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

"Superman: Legacy" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
