Actors Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald are the latest additions to the ever-growing cast of director James Gunn's 2025 "Superman" movie.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hoover and McDonald have been cast in the respective roles as gossip columnist Cat Grant and Daily Planet newsroom reporter Ron Troupe.
Grant was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Jerry Ordway and first appeared in "The Adventures of Superman #424" in January, 1987) while Troupe debuted in "The Adventures of Superman #480" in July, 1991 and was created by Jerry Ordway and Tom Grummett.
"Superman" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
In addition to Hoover and McDonald, the film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent.
"Superman" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
