New "Supergirl" TV Spot Reveals Krypto's Rescue-Pup Backstory

Posted on February 08, 2026 by Neil Cole

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have released a new television spot for "Supergirl" that introduces a fresh take on Krypto the Superdog, presenting the iconic character as a rescued animal whose journey mirrors the film's emotional core.

The spot offers brief but revealing glimpses of Krypto's backstory, positioning the super-powered dog as more than a familiar comic book presence. Depicted as a vulnerable rescue who ultimately finds purpose alongside Kara Zor-El, Krypto's story reinforces the film's focus on empathy, connection, and identity.

Accompanying the TV spot is a newly released poster that features Krypto as a puppy, underscoring the character's origins and emphasizing his development over the course of the story. The image further signals that Krypto will play a meaningful narrative role rather than serving as a purely symbolic addition to the film.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, "Supergirl" stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and draws from DC Comics' established mythology while introducing a more intimate, character-driven perspective. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on June 26, 2026.
