The possible design of Superman's iconic "S" Shield in "Superman: Legacy" has been revealed following the first table read for the film in Atlanta, GA.
Actresses Isabela Merced and Sara Sampaio, who will play the respective roles of Hawkgirl and Miss Teschmacher in the film, each shared pictures of their name cards from the table read to Instagram which feature a design of "S" Shield.
The shield has a very familiar design as it is definitely based on the red and black one that Superman wore in the groundbreaking 1996 DC Comics miniseries, "Kingdom Come" from Mark Waid and Alex Ross.
Director James Gunn has previously teased that the "Superman: Legacy" suit will be totally new and different featuring a mixture of classic and modern designs. He further revealed in a December that production on the suit was "mostly done but we're still going back and forth on some elements."
Whether or not the Kingdom Come "S" shield will be featured on the new costume remains to be seen at this time as filming is not set to begin until March.
"Superman: Legacy" tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and model Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
"Superman: Legacy" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
