HBO Max has announced that "Superman: The Animated Series" will debut next month on the streaming service for the first time in high-definition.
The popular series was developed by Warner Bros. Animation and debuted on Kids' WB on September 6, 1996, running for a total of 54 episodes over the course of three seasons. Following in the footsteps of "Batman: The Animated Series", it featured Tim Daly as Clark Kent/Superman, Dana Delany as Lois Lane, David Kaufman as Jimmy Olsen, and Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor.
Midway through the series' run, it was combined with "The New Batman Adventures" to become "The New Batman/Superman Adventures". The characters of Superman and Batman were then spun off into a new animated series, "Justice League".
"Superman: The Animated Series" will premiere in Hi-Def on March 17th and join other comic themed series currently airing on HBO Max including "Batman Beyond," "Teen Titans," "Young Justice," and "Green Lantern: The Animated Series".
