"Superman & Lois" Fleischer Cartoons and Action Comics #1 Easter Eggs

Following months of anticipation, the premiere episode of "Superman & Lois" officially made it's debut on the CW last night and fans of the Man of Steel were treated a few Easter Eggs.

These were featured at the beginning of the pilot episode in which a flashback montage features Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) during his early days in Metropolis saving a boy from a crashing bright green vehicle in Metropolis which he gently lowers to the ground. The scene is an homage to the cover of Action Comics No. 1.

During the scene, Superman is wearing a retro suit that is taken directly from the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons which originally aired in the 1940's. Unlike the more modern suit featured in the series, this one features a red "S" on a black background with a gold outline.

"That was something that we wanted to do," stated showrunner Todd Helbing while speaking with Insider.com. "I love doing Easter eggs and I love doing comic book covers if we can recreate them. So that just felt like such a great, perfect beat to put into this montage in telling this, the beginning of our story and setting up the show."

Check out the opening montage from the pilot episode below. "Superman & Lois" airs Tuesdays on the CW at 8:00PM (ET).
