WaterTower Music Releases "Superman" Theme from Official Teaser Trailer

WaterTower Music has released the theme music from the new teaser trailer for director James Gunn's "Superman". The new composition by British film composer, John Murphy pays a heartfelt homage to the original score from the 1978 blockbuster film, "Superman: The Movie" which was composed by the legendary John Williams.

At the recent media event for the new trailer held earlier this week at the Warner Bros. Studios backlot in Burbank, CA, Gunn spoke about the overall score for the film stating, "I knew we were doing something that was harkening back to the past but also looking forward to the future, and so it was about finding that balance. John Murphy is a composer who I love working with, and he started working on the music before the script was even finished and was one of the first people I gave the script to, along with Peter Safran and a couple of others, so that he could start writing music for it. I said, 'I want to use a version of the Williams' theme, but I want to do our own version of it.' So, that's what you hear."

At its core, the new theme carries with it a sense of enduring heroism, but with a modern twist that speaks to the current cultural moment. The theme serves not only as a nod to Williams' original work but also as a reflection of the qualities that make Superman such a beloved figure; his sense of responsibility, his unwavering idealism, and his compassion for others.
