Director Zack Snyder has announced that he is currently at work on a remastered version of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which will release on HBO Max prior to his highly anticipated cut of "Justice League".
"Was at Co3 yesterday with Stefan [Sonnenfeld] and we were working on the remastering of BvS restoring the IMAX aspect ratio," stated Snyder on the social networking site Vero. "I think you're gonna see a bit more."
The "bit more" that Snyder is referring to is most likely footage from the original IMAX version of the film which, when shown in a general theater, is typically cropped on the top and bottom to match the rest of the film.
Unlike the additional $70 million that Snyder had to restore his cut of "Justice League", it's highly unlikely that any funds will be budgeted for new footage or reshoots done to "Batman v Superman" especially considering that the "Ultimate Edition" home media release of the film clocked in at over three hours.
Directed by Snyder from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the first live-action film to feature Batman and Superman together, as well as the first live-action cinematic portrayal of Wonder Woman. In the film, criminal mastermind Lex Luthor manipulates Batman into a preemptive battle with Superman, whom Luthor is obsessed with.
