Welcome to the Superman Super Site

Superman is the brainchild of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who first envisioned the character in 1932 and later had his first appearance in Action Comics #1 in June 1938. What Jerry and Joe did not know at the time was that they had created a character that would become the signature icon of DC Comics and the most universally recognized hero in human history.

Since 1938, the character of Superman/Clark Kent has appeared in every imaginable media form including television, film, novelizations, and even a Broadway show.

Being Superman is the childhood fantasy of every little boy and girl (they of course want to be Supergirl). He is an enduring emblem of the American dream, the young immigrant who comes to the United States, embraces the culture and makes something of himself and enriches his adopted nation. He is a classical hero in the modern age who fights criminals, rescues the helpless and has a sense of morals and justice as strong and unshakeable as he is.

Since 1998, the Superman Super Site's mission statement has been to bring you all the latest news, updates, and information pertaining to the Man of Steel and the Superman universe in general.

It is a mission we are proud to maintain for all the fellow Superman fans of the world and everyone who visits our site because, without you, we would not exist.

In a candid and insightful interview with Time Magazine, 31-year-old actor David Corenswet opened up about his much-anticipated role as the Man of Steel in director James Gunn's upcoming film, "Superman" which is set to release on July 11th, 2025. Despite being on the verge of international stardom, Corenswet has remained grounded, choosing to live a surprisingly normal life near his family in suburban Philadelphia, where he raises his one-year-old daughter with his wife.

Unlike many of his Hollywood peers, Corenswet has chosen not to relocate to Los Angeles or New York but instead remains in the area that feels like home. "Actors can get away with being anywhere as long as you have a nice self-tape setup for auditions," Corenswet explains. "Most productions now film in places like Toronto, Atlanta, or London anyway, so I don't need to be anywhere in particular."

The actor, a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School, has built a reputation for his intellectual curiosity and thoughtful approach to his craft. In his Time interview, Corenswet recalls how he often challenged his professors during his time at Juilliard, saying, "Some teachers would say that I was difficult because I love a good argument. I'm happy to be wrong. I just want to be convinced.” This intellectual drive is evident in his current work with James Gunn, who describes Corenswet as "a pain in the ass" for asking numerous questions about every scene but also praises how those questions elevate his performance into something "magical."

Corenswet landed the role of Superman while still filming his portrayal of the villain in Twisters. When asked about whether taking on such a high-profile character was a career-defining decision, he admits that he asked himself, "Would this be worth doing if this was the only thing I do as an actor for the rest of my life?" His answer? "I think the answer is yes."

In a decision that marks the end of an era for thrill-seekers, Six Flags Magic Mountain has officially announced the permanent closure of its iconic 'Superman: Escape from Krypton' roller coaster. The ride, which was once hailed as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, will no longer operate, according to Jeff Harris, President of Six Flags Magic Mountain.

"Just like other roller coasters within the theme park industry, there's a life cycle with these coasters," stated Harris during a video conference. "It's just reached a point in time where we need to make a wise decision on where we really should reinvest funds that improve the guest experience the most. It just doesn't make a lot of sense from a business perspective to put it back into Superman."

The iconic coaster, which launched riders to speeds of 100 mph in just 7 seconds, was a record-setter when it debuted in 1997 as 'Superman: The Escape'. Despite efforts to repair the ride during its maintenance period last September, the coaster's aging infrastructure and the scarcity of necessary parts have led to its permanent shutdown.

"It's too early to disclose what we're going to do with the actual track, cars, queue, building structure and everything else that comes with the attraction," added Harris. "That's yet to be determined, but we're working through what that potentially could look like for the future."

While 'Superman: Escape from Krypton' will no longer be in operation, the 'Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom' - the drop tower ride attached to the same tower structure - will continue to thrill guests. It will reopen in April following a seasonal refurbishment.

Although 'Superman: Escape from Krypton' will no longer be part of Magic Mountain's ride lineup, the Superman legacy will live on through the park's 'Justice League: Battle for Metropolis' dark ride, character meet-and-greet experiences, and themed events like the upcoming DC Heroes and Villains Fest this summer.
