Welcome to the Superman Super Site

Superman is the brainchild of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who first envisioned the character in 1932 and later had his first appearance in Action Comics #1 in June 1938. What Jerry and Joe did not know at the time was that they had created a character that would become the signature icon of DC Comics and the most universally recognized hero in human history.

Since 1938, the character of Superman/Clark Kent has appeared in every imaginable media form including television, film, novelizations, and even a Broadway show.

Being Superman is the childhood fantasy of every little boy and girl (they of course want to be Supergirl). He is an enduring emblem of the American dream, the young immigrant who comes to the United States, embraces the culture and makes something of himself and enriches his adopted nation. He is a classical hero in the modern age who fights criminals, rescues the helpless and has a sense of morals and justice as strong and unshakeable as he is.

Since 1998, the Superman Super Site's mission statement has been to bring you all the latest news, updates, and information pertaining to the Man of Steel and the Superman universe in general.

It is a mission we are proud to maintain for all the fellow Superman fans of the world and everyone who visits our site because, without you, we would not exist.

Metropolis, Illinois, known as the official "Home of Superman," has recently completed an exciting update to one of its most iconic landmarks - the "Welcome to Metropolis" Billboard. This revitalized sign, unveiled after a major renovation, now stands as a striking tribute to the legendary Man of Steel, further solidifying the town's connection to its superhero heritage. The project, overseen by the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to refresh and enhance local landmarks.

Originally installed in 1972, the "Welcome to Metropolis" Billboard has long been a beloved feature of the town, greeting visitors as they enter the city. A larger-than-life Superman image, paired with the State of Illinois, was added in the late 1980s, but over time, weather and wear took their toll on the sign. This prompted the Chamber of Commerce to launch a renovation effort aimed at restoring the billboard to its original grandeur.

The revitalization project was led by a dedicated team, including Maggie Rzechula, Morgan Siebert, and members of the 2024 Metropolis Chamber of Commerce board. Their collective effort and attention to detail helped turn the vision for an updated sign into reality. After several weeks of work, the billboard received a complete facelift, including fresh paint and enhanced graphics, ensuring that it continues to serve as a vibrant representation of Metropolis' rich Superman legacy.

One interesting detail corrected during the restoration was to a small but notable error from the original design. When the billboard was first created, a part of Hawkman's wing, from DC Comics, had been mistakenly added to Superman's cape. This was a result of a mix-up with the black-and-white artwork from legendary artist Neal Adams' wrap-around cover art from "Superman No. 252" (1972), which had been submitted to the billboard's original artist. Although only the most observant Superman fans may have ever noticed the mistake, it has now been corrected as part of the renovation and the removed wing pieces will be displayed at the Super Museum in Metropolis, giving them a new home.

The newly revamped billboard features bold, vibrant colors and sharper graphics, capturing the timeless appeal of Superman while welcoming both first-time visitors and returning fans to the town. More than just a road sign, the updated billboard has become a symbol of pride for Metropolis, reminding all who pass through of the town's special place in superhero history.

Prime 1 Studio has announced the release of their Premium Masterline "Justice" Superman Statue which will be available for pre-order beginning Thursday, November 21st.

Doubt in Justice, the Weight of Perfection. Yet, the Man of Steel Stands Strong, in Photorealistic Sculpture.

Surpassing the classic dichotomy of good and evil, Justice tells a story of hero and villain, conflict, and redemption. From this iconic 2000s comic masterpiece, brought to life through striking visuals, comes Superman!

Is the justice I believe in truly absolute? Can I meet the impossible standards of perfection that society demands? Despite the inner struggle, the Man of Steel stands firm in his choice to remain a hero. Capturing his imposing stance, this 1/4 scale figure, standing 57 cm tall, is a masterful collaboration with Blitzway.

His expression, reflecting anger, sorrow, and compassion, embodies Alex Ross’s photorealistic painting style in a three-dimensional form. From his refined hairstyle to his robust jawline, every part has been crafted to give the impression of a real person. The furrowed brow and subtle redness in his skin bring his emotions to life with remarkable nuance.

His inverted triangle physique perfectly reflects his comic presence. Deep shadows accentuate the musculature, faithfully capturing Ross’s distinct shading technique. The textured suit with its intricate mesh, the boots with visible leather grain, and the iconic raised “S” emblem on his chest all embody the rich history of his costume, a design crafted with timeless simplicity. Two capes, a hard version and a soft one, are included, allowing you to switch according to the display scene.

Completing the figure is a custom base that evokes a metallic feel, featuring an LED-lit blue crystal that emits a glow reminiscent of Krypton’s memory.

Superman from the legendary Justice comic, now realized in a collectible figure, brings Ross’s artistry and profound character depth to life in your collection room!

The Premium Masterline "Justice" Superman Statue with Comic retails for US$799.99 and will be available for pre-order beginning tomorrow, November 21st from Prime 1 Studio with a scheduled release date of February, 2026 - May, 2026.

In a recent interview with Collider, actor Frank Grillo shared his excitement about his upcoming role as Rick Flag Sr. in the animated "Creature Commandos" series as well as director James Gunn's "Superman". Grillo was eager to discuss his journey with the superhero genre, and how his personal history with iconic characters like Superman made this opportunity feel especially unique.

"I wasn't a superhero kid," stated Grillo. "I wasn't a comic book kid, but the one superhero - and I'm talking about from the TV show, the original TV show - was Superman. To me, he's the ultimate and only superhero, second to maybe no one, and a long distance from that is Batman, right? Those are the two superheroes I grew up with."

This childhood connection to Superman, particularly the character's portrayal in the original TV show, made Grillo's experience on the set of "Superman" even more meaningful. When the opportunity to join this upcoming project arose, Grillo was thrilled to be a part of it. His excitement was palpable as he described stepping onto set, knowing that James Gunn was at the helm. Grillo explained, "But to step on set and to know Gunn was at the helm, even in the capacity that I was working, was a gift."

Grillo went on to reveal that he recently had the opporunity to see a preview of the upcoming trailer for "Superman" stating, "I got a sneak peek at a little bit of the trailer, and I'm not joking, and I'm not blowing this out of proportion, my skin was hot and I had goosebumps. That's how great it is."

With "Superman" marking a new era for the Man of Steel, one of the most significant changes is the casting of David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel/Clark Kent. Grillo, ever the supporter, had nothing but praise for the actor, who is set to take on the iconic role. While some fans remain skeptical about the casting choice, Grillo is confident that Corenswet is poised for greatness.

"By the way, this kid, David [Corenswet], is going to be a superstar. A superstar," Grillo declared. "He's amazing, as is the rest of the cast in the film, and just James' take on it. I think it's gonna be the movie."

"Superman" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.

Director James Gunn recently revealed that he hosted a special screening of "Superman" (2025) in Los Angeles. Gunn took to his Bluesky social media account to share a photo of himself alongside his wife on a plane in which he stated, "Back to Peacemaker (ATL) from Superman (LA)." The post suggests that, after a brief visit to LA for the screening, Gunn was heading back to Atlanta, where production for his "Peacemaker" series is currently underway.

When asked whether he was in Los Angeles to oversee pickup shots or to handle post-production work for Superman, Gunn quickly clarified, "Post. Screening." This comment confirms that the screening was part of the film's post-production process, and not for additional filming. Though the identity of the audience at the screening remains a mystery, it is likely that the event included key DC Studios and Warner Bros. executives, as well as some members of the film's cast and crew.

With the film still in post-production, the version shown in LA was probably a rough cut with finishing touches such as visual effects, sound editing, and possibly even some reshoots still being required. This is not uncommon for major blockbuster films, especially those in the superhero genre, which rely heavily on post-production work. Given that "Superman" is slated for release in July, 2025, this screening marks an important milestone in the film's development throughout the final stages of editing.

Previously know as "Superman: Legacy", the film stars Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent.

"Superman" is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 11th, 2025.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Caped Wonder Superman Podcast, copies of Mario Puzo's first and second draft of the script for "Superman: The Movie" are now available for download on-line.

"They have arrived! Sought after for decades, Mario Puzo's first and second draft of 'Superman'!", stated Caped Wonder in an official announcement. "Although many of his ideas were shot down by DC after the very first draft, some of Puzo's original story ideas made it all the way to 'Superman' & 'Superman II'. The Caped Wonder Superman Podcast is excited to present these drafts from 1975 for your reading pleasure. 'Superman: The Movie' could have looked like a very different film. We encourage you to read, analyze, dissect, and imagine Mario Puzo's vision for Superman."

Although the father/son producer team of Alexander and Ilya Salkind felt that Puzo had written a solid story for the two-part film, they deemed his scripts as "very heavy", and eventually hired Robert Benton and David Newman for rewrite work. Benton would became too busy directing the 1977 neo-noir mystery film, "The Late Show" so David's wife, Leslie was brought in to help her husband finish writing duties.

Puzo's first and second draft are available for download via the following links:

Director James Gunn has revealed that one of Henry Cavill's original Superman costumes was unfortunately destroyed during the audition process for the role of the Man of Steel in the 2025 "Superman" movie.

In an interview with the Hellish Podcast, British actor Tom Brittney ("Grantchester", "Invasion") stated that he had auditioned for the Superman role stating that, "It was actually Henry Cavill's Superman suit - it was his actual suit. It takes about half an hour to get into it - to get sewn into it. And yeah, I think I might have accidentally ripped it."

When asked via Instagram if this reveal was true, Gunn stated, "Yes. Tom [Brittney] messed it up and then [David] Corenswet came in an he was way too tall so it just got torn to shreds. BTW, Tom is truly one of my favorite actors. Incredibly talented guy." Gunn would also add that the costume was indeed an original worn by Cavill.

It has long been a common practice for producers and directors to use previously made costumes when auditioning for reboots or updates of film franchises, especially ones involving superheroes, to help see how an actor could potentially look in the role they are auditioning for. This was true for Cavill when he auditioned for the role of Superman in "Man of Steel" and wore an original suit that had previously been worn by Christopher Reeve. However, it is unknown which one of Cavill's numerous Superman costumes that was destroyed was used for the audition process as there were several versions created for "Man of Steel", "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", and "Justice League".
